Nats Get Curly “W” Against Cards, O’s Lose 102nd, ‘Skins Work Out 4
The Washington Nationals got a much-needed win last night, as they defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 6-2. Patrick Corbin worked 6 innings for the Nats, giving up no earned runs and striking out 10 for his 13th win of the season. Victor Robles provided 2 clutch RBI singles and Howie Kendrick went 3-for-4, as the Nationals stayed a game and a half up in the NL Wild Card race. Max Scherzer takes the mound this afternoon for the series finale. Air time is 12:45 on Sports Radio 1450.
Meanwhile, the Orioles lost their 102nd game of the year, dropping an 8-5 decision against Toronto. The two teams play tonight at Camden Yards at 7:05.
The Washington Redskins brought in 4 offensive players yesterday for a workout at Redskins Park. The ‘Skins took a look at quarterbacks Wilton Speight and Tanner Lee, receiver Pharoah McKever, and tight end AJ Derby. The 0-2 Redskins are preparing for their Monday Night home game against the Chicago Bears.
And the Shenandoah Hornets are prepping for their ODAC football opener this Saturday night against longtime rival Bridgewater. The Eagles are 2-0 and lead the all-time series 16-5, but the Hornets have won 4 of the last 5. Air time from Shentel Stadium is 6:30 on The River 95-3.
