Catholic Comeback Spikes SU Volleyball, Nats Win, O’s Drop 108th
Visiting Catholic University of America came from 2 sets down to defeat SU Women’s Volleyball last night at the Wilkins Center, 3-2. The Hornets fall to 4-6 with the loss, while CUA improves to 11-3 on the season. SU will now travel to Cresson, Pa. Thursday for a 7pm match against Mount Aloysius.
Today…the Hornets travel to Bridgewater for Men’s Soccer, while Field Hockey plays tonight at St. Mary’s of Maryland, and Women’s Soccer heads to Baltimore to take on Stevenson.
The Nationals doubled up the Marlins last night 4-2. Stephen Strasburg struck out 11 in six innings of work, at one point getting 8 consecutive outs via the “K”. Sean Doolittle picked up his 25th save of the year. The Nats are off today before returning to DC for the final homestand of the year. The Nationals entertain the Mets tomorrow starting at 6:30 on NBC SportsRadio 1450.
The Baltimore Orioles lost to Toronto 6-4 at Camden Yards for their 108th loss of the year. That’s the most losses by an Oriole team, although the franchise record is 111, when they were the St. Louis Browns back in 1939.
The two teams play again tonight at 7:05.
And, Washington Capitals hockey returns in October on NBC SportsRadio 1450, as the Caps open defense of their Stanley Cup Championship. John Walton is back at the play-by-play microphone…on WFTR.
