Nola and Phils Blank Nats, O’s Outslug Mets, Big Comeback For Murray
Philadelphia’s Aaron Nola dominated the Washington Nationals last night, allowing just 2 hits in eight innings in a 6-0 Phillies win.
Andrew McCutchen’s 3-run homer in the sixth inning broke the game open, as the Nationals fell to 12-21 on the season. The two teams play again tonight, starting at 6:35 on CBS Sports Radio 1450.
The Baltimore Orioles pounded out 15 hits on the way to a 9-5 win over the New York Mets last night at Camden Yards. Five players had at least 2 hits for the O’s, who improved to 16-19 with the victory. The two teams meet again this afternoon at 4:05.
The US Open Tennis Tournament continued yesterday in New York, as Andy Murray came from 2 sets and a match point down to defeat Yoshihito Nishioka in a 4-hour, 39-minute marathon. Other Day 2 winners included Serena Williams and Sloane Stephens. Venus Williams was eliminated for the first time ever in an opening round.
