The Washington Nationals swept a doubleheader from the Philadelphia Phillies yesterday at Nats Park, winning the opener 4-1 and taking the nightcap 6-5. Those two wins, coupled with the Cubs loss to Pittsburgh last night clinched a Wild Card berth for the Nationals. In the first game, the Nats got 2 sacrifice flies from Anthony rendon and 5 perfect innings from the bullpen. In the second game, Trea Turner’s 6th inning grand slam was the big blow. The Nationals take on the Phils tonight starting at 6:35 on Sports Radio 1450.
The Orioles trounced Toronto 11-4, as Trey Mancini went 5-for-5. With the win, the O’s are assured of not finishing with the worst record in the major leagues. The 2 teams play again tonight at 7:07.
And, following his team’s embarrassing loss to Chicago on Monday Night Football, Redskins Coach Jay Gruden said yesterday that no quarterback change is planned for this Sunday’s game against the New York Giants.
