Nats Fall To Cards…Serena Advances…and VT & WVU Move Up
The St. Louis Cardinals hit 5 home runs, including 2 by Marcel Ozuna, in an 11-8 win over the Washington Nationals last night in DC. The Nats made things interesting with 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th, but ultimately fell below the .500 mark again, at 69-70. The two teams play the series finale tonight at 7:05. Air time is 6:30 on NBC SportsRadio 1450.
Meanwhile, the Baltimore Orioles beat the slumping Seattle Mariners 5-3 last night. It’s O’s at Seattle again tonight at 10:10.
The first AP College Football Poll has Alabama in the top spot, followed by Clemson and Georgia. Virginia Tech jumped to number 12 after it’s win against Florida State, while WVU moved up to 14.
Serena Williams and Rafael Nadal both advanced at the US Open tennis tournament, while defending champ Sloane Stephens was ousted.
US Ryder Cup Captain Jim Furyk named 3 of his Captain’s picks yesterday, naming Tiger Woods, Phil Mickleson, and Bryson Dechambeau to the American squad. The Europeans will announce their Captain’s picks today.
And tomorrow night at 7, it’s “Sports Dogs After Hours” on The River 95-3.Randy Woodward will be joined by “Coach C”, Mike Costello of Wakefield Country Day, to talk college football on the AP’s “Outstanding Sports Operation of the Virginias.”
