Stegmaier chosen as Republican candidate for Shawnee District Supervisor

29 June 2020 Frederick County News

The Frederick County Republican Committee held a firehouse primary Saturday to choose its candidate for the Shawnee District seat on the Frederick County Board of Supervisors.

David Stegmaier won the primary at the Millwood Station Banquet Hall with 148 votes, defeating candidates Elaine Holliday and J. Kermit Gaither.

Stegmaier will face Democrat Richard Kennedy in a Nov. 3 special election.

The Shawnee District is currently represented on an interim basis by Gene Fisher, who was appointed in December to fill a vacancy created by Shannon Trout when she stepped down from the board. The winner of the Nov. 3 election will serve the remainder of Trout’s four-year term, which expires on Dec. 31, 2021.
