Stephens City Man Killed in Single Vehicle Accident

26 July 2017 News

A Stephens City man was killed on July 25, 2017 in a single vehicle accident when he lost control of the truck he was driving. According to Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred at around 10:20am on exit 315 off Interstate 81.

Charles L. Perkins Jr, 62, died at the scene of the crash due to injuries he sustained. There is a sharp right curve off the exit. Perkins reportedly traveled straight and over an embankment. The truck ultimately landed on its front end and rolled onto the driver’s side.

No airbags deployed and Perkins was not wearing his seat belt. There were no passengers in the vehicle.

Authorities reported that Perkins suffered from an unspecified medical condition. The condition could have played a part in the crash due to the fact there were no skid marks on the road.
