Strasburg Armed Robbers Caught in Staunton

23 March 2018 News

On Wednesday afternoon, Staunton Police picked up two suspects wanted for an armed robbery in Strasburg.

Richard Dale Culley, 29, and his wife Tammy Ann Culley, 28, brandished a firearm at two adult males on Loudoun Street at about 12:30 a.m Wednesday morning. According to police, they asked for their cellphone and cigarettes before fleeing the scene. The Culleys were identified over the course of the investigation that followed, and police believed they might travel to Staunton or Augusta county after the crime.

That same day, Staunton Police located the Culleys’ vehicle in the parking lot of Staunton’s Stonewall Jackson Hotel. Strasburg officers then coordinated with the Shenandoah County Emergency Communications Center and the Staunton Police Department. Staunton officers arrested the couple without incident at the hotel at approximately 1:30 p.m.

The Culleys both face charges of robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Richard Culley is additionally charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and possession of a firearm by a convicted violent felon, and Tammy Culley also has a charge of conspiracy to commit the felony. They are being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail in Augusta County, awaiting transfer to RSW Regional Jail.
