Strasburg Mayor Charged

Strasburg Mayor to Have First Council Meeting Since DUI

13 August 2019 Shenandoah County News

Strasburg’s mayor plans on presiding over a Town Council meeting for the first time since an incident that left him injured and facing criminal charges.

Mayor Rich Orndorff was driving a John Deere Gator down West King Street on the night of May 17, 2019, when he lost control of the vehicle, striking the front side corner of the Strasburg Community Library. He returned home in early July after being hospitalized for serious injuries, and was charged by Virginia State Police on July 12 for DUI and driving an ATV on a public roadway. According to a Monday email from Town Manager Wyatt Pearson, Orndorff will be at tonight’s (8/13/2019) Town Council meeting. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m.
