The Strasburg Town Council Unanimously approved the purchase by the town of the former BBandT/Truist bank building at 115 West King Street.

According to the town website the approval came at the Dec. 6 council work session.

Also approved Tues. was the allocation of $1,150,000 from the general fund balance for the purchase.

The plan is to convert the building into the new Strasburg Police Station.

The website shows the building is currently owned by a Washington DC entity known as Lemonade MM Strasburg LLC.

The building has just over 6400 square feet of space and includes a pad-mounted transformer on a little more than a half-acre of property.

The building is in the commercial and residential section of town.

The building has been a bank since at least 1955.

The website shows that the building has passed a phase one environmental site assessment.
