Strasburg’s Town Council unanimously voted to appoint current Planning and Zoning administrator Wyatt Pearson to replace Town Manager Ryan Spitzer who resigned in April. Council took the action during a Work Session on the evening of May 1. Pearson’s first day on the job will be May 4.
“This is the first time I’ve had the opportunity to hire a Town Manager, ” said Mayor Rich Orndorff, Jr., “and we are very pleased with the decision. We have a lot of projects and exciting things going on right now, so it was important to us to have someone who cannot just hit the ground running, but continue the great work that is in progress.”
Pearson joined the Town of Strasburg as a part-time employee in October of 2014, then went on as full-time in December of the same year as the Planning and Zoning Administrator. He attended Virginia Tech from 2009 to 2015 and acquired a Bachelor’s in Environmental Policy and Planning and a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning.
“It’s an exciting time for the Town of Strasburg, and I’m honored to have been chosen.” Pearson said. “Town Council recently went through a visioning session, and the priorities they identified set the stage for multiple successes moving forward. We have a strong team that works well together to bring those to fruition.”
Orndorff appointed a hiring committee last month, which made the recommendation for a full Council interview last week. After the May 1 interview, Council elected to appoint Pearson to the permanent post that evening.
