SU teams with D.C. Spirit soccer

Shenandoah University has partnered with the Washington Spirit women’s soccer team.
The partnership will provide free classes to players in exchange for internships, hospitality, and promotion.
The three year deal offers Spirit players tuition free enrollment in Shenandoah’s graduate and undergraduate courses to Aubrey Bledsoe and Paige Nielsen.
Shenandoah will also make its facilities available for Spirit scrimmages, practices and games.
The school will also allow players to coach on a volunteer basis in compliance with NCAA guidelines.
In return the Spirit will provide internship opportunities in physical therapy and athletic training to students.
Spirit will also work with university leadership in the esports and sport meanagement departments to develop and implement programs for Shenandoah students in the Washington D.C area.
The Spirit will allow Shenandoah signage at its two fields and provide a limited allotment of tickets to the SU community.
SU and Spirit will hold a women’s leadership conference at a time to be determined later.
League play begins in April.
