Suspect wanted in W.VA. apprehended in Leesburg

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a suspect involved with two armed robberies in Martinsburg and Falling Waters West Virginia.

On Jan. 17 two warrants were served on Gary Alan Prieb for two counts of first degree robbery.

Prieb is also facing 2 counts of failing to registering as a sex offender in Leesburg and was arrested by Virginia State Police on January 13.

While in the Loudon County Adult Detention Center a search warrant was secured by investigators to search Prieb’s hotel room and vehicle in Jefferson County.

Evidence was found to implicate Prieb in two armed robberies that had occurred in December and January in West Virginia.

The robberies occurred at Jakki’s in Martinsburg on December 18 and then Jakki’s in Falling Waters on January 9.

Management of Jakki’s confirmed that Prieb was an employee of the establishment who had been fired.

Video surveillance footage shows someone matching Prieb’s description wielding a knife and demanding money.

Video footage also shows someone with a vehicle like Prieb’s leaving with an undetermined amount of stolen money.

Prieb remains in the in the Leesburg Adult Detention Center at the time of the report.
