Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative (SVEC) announced the awarding of funds in 2023’s Operation Round Up.
A dozen nonprofits have benefited in this first round of the 2023 Operation Round Up campaign.
Applications for the second round of grants are now available until June 14 here.
Some of the nonprofits that will benefit in this round include Frederick County’s Congregational Community Action Project to help 12 households with utility bills.
Rent will be partially paid for the warming center at Winchester Area Temporary Transitional Shelter.
Winchester’s homeless will benefit through meals and clothing funds toward Love to Nurture, Inspire, Comfort (NIC) of Winchester.
First Readers will receive free books for children in Shenandoah County.
Warren County’s Shenandoah Area Agency on Aging will receive funds to support their Meals on Wheels program.
In Page County free swim lessons will be funded for underserved youth through beneficiary Page Alliance for Community Action.
Nonprofits in Augusta, Highland and Rockingham Counties will also benefit from funds form member owners who have rounded up their monthly utility bills through Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative.
In all over $18,000 were donated by cooperative members with the co-op also contributing to the total.
