SVFD responds to a roof blown off a building

On Sunday March 19 the Stanley Volunteer Fire Department (SVFD) reports they responded to a roof blown off a building onto West Main Street.
At approximately 12:30 p.m. firefighters found a large portion of the tin roof of the former Seventh Day Adventist Church had blown off the building and into the intersection of West Main and Park Road.
The building was built in the late 1880’s and is only used occasionally and was not occupied at the time.
The church is owned by the Potomac Conference Corporation who estimates damage to be in the several thousand dollar range.
The building is insured and a Page County building inspector was called in and declared the remainder of the building safe.
A Page County contractor secured the remaining portion of the roof and covered the blown off portion.
Winds were not particularly strong that day but a neighbor did note a strong burst at the time the roof blew off.
A video of the incident is found here.
There were no injuries, or any other damage reported in the incident.
Four units remained on the scene for approximately an hour.
