Frederick County Public Safety launches Next Generation 911

An email from Frederick County announced the launch of the Next Generation 911 system in the county.

Frederick County Public Safety Communications has installed the Next Gen system to basically adjust to the way we communicate today for faster response in emergency situations.

The new technology allows the public to share more detailed information as the system can accept videos, images and text messages.

This is especially helpful with communications between emergency agencies when responding as well.

Because 911 is rarely called by landline the system had to be updated to accommodate other devices.

The Next Gen 911 system can accept information from smart phones, medical devices, car computers and building alarms.

This is particularly useful in finding an exact location when seconds count.
