VSP investigate a fatal accident in Shenandoah County

An email from Virginia State Police (VSP) Public Information Officer Sergeant Brent Coffey states that Trooper E. Myers responded to an accident in Shenandoah County.

Trooper Myers reports that the accident occurred at mile marker 273 on Interstate 81.

Trooper Myers reports that 69 year old Linda Dellinger of Edinburg in a Mazda CX-3 enter 81 in the wrong direction and collided head on with a northbound Toyota Tacoma.

Dellinger and a dog in the Mazda died from injuries sustained in the accident after being transported to the hospital.

The 33 year old unidentified male driver of the Toyota from Staunton suffered serious injuries.

An 11 year old female was also in the Toyota and sustained serious injuries.

Both subjects were transported to hospitals with no update on their condition at this time.

All human occupants of the vehicles were wearing their seatbelts.

A medical condition is being considered a factor in the accident which remains under investigation.

VSP investigate a fatal accident in Clarke County

An email from Virginia State Police (VSP) Public Information Officer Brent Coffey states that Senior Trooper R. Riggs was called to an accident in Clarke County.

The accident occurred Sat. Nov. 6 along Rt. 600 2 miles south of Rt. 7 around 4 p.m..

Trooper Riggs reports finding a 2003 Ford F-150 had collided with a tree.

Indications are that the drive had run off the right side of Rt. 600 over corrected crossed the double yellow line and ran off the left side of the road when he collided with the tree.

The driver of the Ford was identified as 30 year old Clayton Cummings of Berryville who died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

Cummings was not wearing his seatbelt and the accident remains under investigation.

VSP investigate a fatal accident involving a Stanley resident

Virginia State Police (VSP) are investigating a fatal two vehicle accident in Rockingham County in which a Stanley man was killed.

According to an email from VSP Sergeant Brent Coffey Stanley resident 46 year old Keith W. Courtney died at the scene of the accident.

Courtney’s vehicle crossed the double yellow line on Route 602 and collided with an oncoming vehicle.

The driver of the struck vehicle was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.

the accident remains under investigation.
