Strasburg hosts Veteran’s Day parade

The Town of Strasburg and American Legion Post 77 are hosting a Veterans Day Parade today starting at 1 pm.

The parade will begin at the Legion and follow N. Holliday and east King Street before ending at the Strasburg Square.

At the Square, a short program will highlight the individual branches with assistance from the Strasburg High School band and Sherando High School’s National Honor Society.

Veterans and Classic Car owners participating in the parade will meet at the Legion at 12:30 pm.

The American Red Cross needs blood donors after blood drive cancellations

Inclement weather has cancelled blood drives in the area taxing an already low blood supply for the American Red Cross.

There are blood drive appointments available in your area.

Using your zip code at redcrossblood.org you can set an appointment convenient for you near your home.

Fri. Jan. 21 a blood drive with appointments open is scheduled for the American Legion Post on Eighth Street Front Royal from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m..

If that drive fills up another is available for the future for you to set the appointment.

Donors are able to give every 56 days.

The need is greater than ever as the Red Cross is experiencing the lowest supply in a decade with a 10 percent drop in donations.

The supply limit is affecting the supply delivered to area hospitals.

If you can give that would help supply a severely depleted blood bank.

Am. Red Cross in urgent need of blood donors

The American Red Cross reports a 10 percent drop in donations nationwide.

There is an urgent need for donors the current low supply affects the supply at local hospitals nationwide and here in our Lord Fairfax Health District as well.

It is believed the drop in donation is due to a number factors weather being one and the pandemic another.

There are several blood drives next week in our area including next Fri. Jan. 21 at the Front Royal American Legion and Jan. 25 at Front Royal Fire Hall.

You could set an appointment right now using the zip code 22630 at redcrossblood.org.

Any appointment can also be made close to your home using your zip code at redcrossblood.org.

Appointments can be made well into the future as well with donors able to give every 56 days.

The American Red Cross is reporting a server shortage of blood.

You can make an appointments to make a donation at redcrossblood.org use your zip code for a location near you.

There is a drive today Jun. 22 at the Winchester Donation Center at 561 Fortress Dr. Winchester with some availability.

Tomorrow Jun. 23 the American Legion on 8 Street Front Royal has a blood drive with an opening.

There will be a drive Thursday Jun. 24 at the Winchester Donation Center with availability as well.

On Jun. 30 you can join the River 953 at the Virginia Hills Church 737 Rockland Rd. Front Royal blood drive.

You can give blood every 56 days with one donation you could save three lives.

Anyone making a donation in June will receive a $5 gift card.

The American Red Cross Blood Drive stops at the Front Royal Fire Hall on Commerce Ave. tomorrow May 12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m..

The River’s own Randy Woodward will be there 10 to noon as well.

Appointments are available at redcrossblood.org use your zip code to find a drive near you.

All donors tomorrow will receive a $5 Amazon e-gift card at the Fire Hall.

Another opportunity to give is Friday at the American Legion on 8 St. Front Royal from noon to 5 p.m..
