Fire & Rescue Wins “Battle of the Badges!”

battle of the badges blood drive

The annual “Battle of the Badges” Blood Drive took place this past Friday (7-24) at the Frederick County Public Safety Building, and we had an upset, as Fire and Rescue edged Law Enforcement 34-30, taking the trophy that had long been held by Sheriff Lenny Millholand and his team. Donors were asked to vote for either Fire & Rescue or Law Enforcement with their blood donations, but the real winners were the potential recipients of life saving blood. Blood supplies are dangerously low right now, so make an appointment and give the gift of life at https://redcrossblood.org

Honoring Our Vets With The Gift Of Life

On Friday, the Red Cross held its annual Veterans Blood Drive at the beautiful West Oaks Farm Market in Frederick County. It was a chance for donors to give the gift of life and say “thanks” to our veterans for their service to the USA. There were several Veterans resource groups on hand, and Gores Meats was there serving up their famous sausage and burgers to the Vets and donors. The River 95.3 stopped by for a while and to those of you who did…thank you! To find an blood drive near you, download the Red Cross Blood Donor App or log on to https://redcrossblood.org

News Maker Stacy McFarland on blood drives

Monday, January 29 the American Red Cross will host a blood drive in honor of the West Virginia State Troopers shot in the line of duty.

We spoke to the Executive Director for the Greater Shenandoah Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross Stacy McFarland in our latest news maker.

Stacy tells us that the Red Cross is in an Emergency Blood Shortage situation due to weather conditions canceling an incredible number of drives.

She also gives us the connection for making an appointment for Monday’s blood drive honoring the officers at the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.

Stacy also reviews how much easier it is to give with the Rapid Pass option.

Even if you can’t make Monday’s blood drive use this link to set an appointment using your zip code to make a more convent appointment for yourself.
