Fun Fact January 17, 2022.

Today in history!  According to History dot com, it was on January 17, 1950 that 11 men robbed the Brinks armored car depot in Boston.  The mastermind was a career criminal named Anthony “Fats” Pino who, along with 10 ne’er do wells, staked out the depot for 18 months.  They stole the plans for the alarm system and return them before anyone noticed.  Wearing a uniform similar to the Brinks employees and rubber Halloween masks, the thieves entered the depot with copied keys, surprising and tying up several employees inside the company‚Äôs counting room. They filled 14 canvas bags with cash, coins, checks and money orders.  The men were out and in their getaway car in about 30 minutes. Their haul weighed more than half a ton and was more than $2.7 million, about $29 million today.  It was the largest robbery in U.S. history at the time.  It was almost the perfect crime, almost.  The culprits were caught in January 1956, just days before the statute of limitations for the theft expired.  Listen to the podcast here;
