Innovative farm comes to Arlington

An innovative, indoor farm is opening in Arlington County.

Area 2 Farms will operate as an organic, indoor farm and retail store.

The farm will utilize new technologies like microrobotics to manage heat and humidity.

They will also use up to 25% less LED lighting than other indoor farms.

Over the next three years, the farm plans to hire 30 employees and generate $3.6 million of Virginia grown produce.

The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services along with Arlington County secured a $40,000 grant for the project from the Governor Youngkin’s Agriculture and Forestry Industries Development Fund which will be matched by Arlington County.
