SCSO arrest child pornography suspect

Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) announced an arrest in a child pornography case.

Deputies executed a search warrant in Maurertown in reference to the investigation.

On May 5 James Clifford Hawkins was placed under arrest on two counts of knowingly possessing child pornography and five counts of failing to register or verify registration information or knowingly providing false information to the Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry.

Hawkins is scheduled to appear in juvenile and domestic relations district court on June 16.

WPD make a third arrest in a murder investigation

An email from Deputy Chief Amanda R. Behan of the Winchester Police Department (WPD) announced the arrest of a third suspect in a May murder.

Jaiden Myer who died from a gun shot wound on Wilson Boulevard Winchester on May 21, 2021.

Tony Peyton Jr. of Fredericksburg was arrested Monday by WPD and charged with first degree murder, attempted robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery in the crime.

Peyton is in custody along with Jaeden Smithers and Demetrius Brown who were arrested earlier in the year.
