Marshall native named Player of the Game in Michigan’s National Championship

Blake Corum, a Marshall native, was named the Offensive Player of the Game following Michigan’s National Championship victory over Washington.

Corum finished the game with 21 carries for 134 yards and two touchdowns, both in the 4th quarter.

In the Rose Bowl, Corrum totaled 118 yards and scored two touchdowns, including the game winner in overtime.

During the regular season, he accumulated over 1,000 rushing yards and set the school record with 24 rushing touchdowns.

He will likely become just the second player from Fauquier County, joining Wyatt Teller of the Cleveland Browns, to play in the NFL.

He is currently projected as a second to third round pick.

Leading up to the National Championship game, Corum gave back to his community by donating 300 toys to the Fauquier County based Family Shelter Services.

This followed his Detroit based toy drive which raised 25,000 toys for a local mission.
