Winchester’s Holiday Parade kicked off the season in Old Town

It’s parade season in the area and Winchester’s annual Holiday Parade steps off tonight in Old Town!

The parade begins at 7 pm and typically lasts an hour.

Following the parade at roughly 8 pm, a tree lighting ceremony with Santa will be held at the courthouse lawn area on the Loudoun Street Mall.

Road closures will begin at 5:30 pm surrounding the walking mall.

The parade route will follow Cameron Street to Piccadilly, left on Braddock St., left on Cork St. and finish at Loudoun St.

Roads will reopen at 8:30 pm.

WinTran’s Laurel Ridge Route begins service

The City of Winchester’s new public transit route to Laurel Ridge Community College began service today.

The bus will stop at five locations between the downtown Winchester Boscawen Street transfer station and the Community College every 70 minutes.

The stops include Bank of Clarke, Braddock Street at Amherst Street, John Handley High School, Shihadeh Innovation Center, and Jubal Early Drive at Apple Blossom Drive.

The Laurel Ridge Route will run throughout the year except for holidays with the first bus leaving at 7:10 am and the final bus returning at 9:10 pm.

All buses are wheelchair accessible and equipped with a bike rack.

Winchester Transit would also like to remind all residents that it is free to travel on any WinTran bus to any destination through June 30, 2023.

Holiday Parade returns to Old Town

Monday marks the return of the Holiday Parade to Old Town Winchester. The parade will feature floats, bands, local organizations and Santa himself!

The parade will start down Piccadilly Street before turning on to Braddock Street and then E Cork Street.

Those roads along with a few others in the immediate area will close at 5:45 pm on Monday.

The tree lighting ceremony will take place immediately after the parade on the walking mall.
