VSP investigate a bus and train collision

An email from Virginia State Police (VSP) Sergeant Brent Coffey states an investigation is ongoing in a collision of a bus and train in Rockingham County.

The incident involved a McGaheysville Elementary school bus and a train yesterday Nov. 17 on Rt. 340 and Island Ford Rd.

Sixteen children were onboard the bus with four of those having to be treated for minor injuries.

No one else was injured in the incident.

The driver of the bus 70 year old James A. Kite of Elkton has been charged with failure to obey a traffic control device.
