LFCC’s workforce solutions is recognized with a Chancellor’s Award
In an email from Lord Fairfax Community College (LFCC) announced the reception of a reward.
Workforce Solutions and Outlier Realty Capital received a 2021 Chancellor’s Award Workforce Development Award at the Hire Education Conference.
The award recognizes the partnership of the collaboration for providing a six week building maintenance technician training program to disadvantaged students ages 18 to 24.
The partnership arose out of a need for maintenance technicians at the Outlier Realty Capital Apartments in Winchester.
Outlier turned to Virginia Career Works (VCW) for assistance and VCW turned to LFCC’s workforce solutions to fill the need.
Students took seven day classes internships at various locations for hands on training for 18 days.
On the job classes and internships were held at Winchester Leasing Office along with internships at LFCC, Common Living, Winchester Apartments and Our Health Inc.
The email states that the program gave the students confidence to pursue a meaningful occupation and feel like part of the community.
