Fun Fact September 28, 2021.
Tool time Tuesday and today we’re getting oily. Over the weekend my son, Evan, and I changed the oil in my truck. Evan did most of the work, draining the old oil and putting the new oil in. He had a bit of trouble with the oil filter. Most filters have a section that is shaped or coated so you can get a grip on it, but not the one I bought for truck. I have an oil filter wrench. There are several different styles of oil filter wrench. The one I have is not the best designed tool, in my opinion. It’s basically a bicycle chain on a handle. As hard as he tried, he couldn’t get the big filter loose. After several frustrating attempts, I crawled under the truck to try my luck. Eventually, between the two of us, we were able to get it loose and off. He put the new one on and put the new oil in, all 15 quarts. His older brother use a slightly more expensive filter that has a 3/4 inch nut formed into the bottom so you can use a socket to get it off. I think I’ll invest in one of those filters next time.
