CPD arrest two after construction site robbery

On October 26 the Charles Town Police Department (CPD) announced the arrest of two people involved in a construction site robbery.

After responding to the report of a construction trailer being broken into officers found over $10,000 worth of tools having been stolen.

Fortunately, video footage of the incident was secured and reviewed.

A vehicle was recorded and a be on the lookout was issued throughout Jefferson County Law Enforcement.

Charles Town Police and Ranson Police located the vehicle on East 5th Street in Ranson.

Both a male and a female were investigated and detained by authorities.

Ronald Sartin II of Ranson West Virginia and Susan Elizabeth Alsalal of Myrtle Beach South Carolina have both been charged with several offenses.

Those charges include breaking and entering, transferring, and receiving stolen goods, grand larceny, and conspiracy to commit grand larceny with additional charges pending.

All reported stolen tools have been recovered and are being returned to their rightful owner.

Fatal crash in Charles Town ejects passenger

At 5:44 pm on April 18th, the Charles Town Police Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on US Route 340 north of the intersection with Patrick Henry Way.

The preliminary investigation shows that a Ford Excursion traveling southbound was approaching the intersection when the driver attempted to abruptly change lanes and in the process crashed into a Ford Focus and tractor trailer that were stopped in traffic.

The driver of the Excursion was ejected from the vehicle and flown to a local hospital for life threatening injuries.

The front seat passenger was declared dead at the scene.

The juvenile rear passenger was flown to a medical facility for life threatening injuries.

Neither driver or front seat passenger in the Excursion were wearing a seatbelt.

Drivers of the Focus and tractor trailer were not injured.

The Charles Town Police Department thanked community members who stopped to render aid at the crash as well as the Ransom Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance.
