Fun Fact April 26, 2021.

I’ll bet you didn’t know this about Charles Town, WV.  See what I did there?  According to Charles Town WV dot us, the city was founded in 1786.  It’s named after the youngest brother of George Washington, Charles.  The Washington family owned large tracts of land in what would become the Eastern Panhandle of the state.  Charles was given a portion of this land, including the area that would become Charles Town.  The land was actually part of Frederick County Virginia, until West Virginia was created during the Civil War.  Today, the City of Charles Town is home to approximately 5,700 residents and boasts a rich history with many historical sites including Charles Washington Hall.
