Bowman Library offers a series of programs on Diversity

A news release from Bowman Library’s Public Relations Outreach Manager Cheryl Nakagawa announced a series of monthly programs.

The 2022 International Cultures Program will begin on Jan. 8 at 1 p.m. at the Library at 871 Tasker Rd. in Stephens City.

The Diversify Our Narrative high school students of Frederick County will present the programs to learn in depth about different cultural backgrounds, practices, and peoples of ethnicities from around the world.

The Jan. program focuses on the climate, food, customs, traditions, languages, industry and travels of indigenous people of the American continents.

A special presentation on those who lived in and around Frederick County will also be featured in Jan. as well.

Other presentations include

Feb. 12’s presentation will focus on Africa.

Europe will be featured on Mar. 5.

On Apr. Oceania will be the featured presentation.

An International Culture Finale will take place May 28.

Each participant in the program will receive a passport to record their progress in the programs.

Each program features stories, art and discoveries of our region and the world.
