Chesapeake Authorities close streets and warn residents to remain indoors

In social media messages from Chesapeake Animal Services warnings were posted for residents to remain indoors and stay away from the area near Western Branch High School in Chesapeake Virginia.

Police were called when a mama black bear and her three cubs climbed a neighborhood tree to nap.

Chesapeake Police called in Chesapeake Animal Control and Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources to assess the situation.

In an attempt to keep the area calm and quiet authorities posted the warnings to stay away.

Bears can become very aggressive when they become aggravated especially a mama protecting her cubs.

Officials remained on the scene until the bears woke climbed down and wondered into the woods around midnight last night Dec. 27.
