Tool time Tuesday and we’re trying to get in shape. If someone is in shape they are described as being “chiseled.” If you want to shape something you’ll need a good chisel. Flint versions of the chisel has been around since 8000 BC. Ancient Egyptians used copper and later bronze chisels to carve both wood and stone. There are many types of chisels for various carving jobs and materials. For instance, there are more than a dozen types of chisels used in woodworking alone. Chiseling use involves forcing the blade into some material to cut it. The driving force may be applied by pushing by hand, or by using a mallet or hammer, depending on the material you are trying to shape or carve.
