Dominion Ridge Academy announces big plans

provided by Carrie Hill

Dominion Ridge Academy (DRA) is preparing to expand their private Christian educational services at a 9-hole golf course in Warren County.

This non-denominational school teaches preschool through 12th grade currently at New Bible Church on New Lake Avenue.

Richard Runyon, owner of the Shenandoah Valley Golf Club who recently bought the adjacent Bowling Green golf course, offered part of the Bowling Green property to the academy for its expansion.

DRA will need a conditional-use permit in order to build a school on the property.

At a recent EDA meeting, academy founder Lorraine Hewitt, and Michael Graham, interim chairman, talked to the authority about the expansion plans.

The representatives and board members talked at the special meeting about possible partnerships the school may have with the EDA, the town and county governments or outside agencies for funding opportunities.
