Christmas parades around the Valley

It’s Christmas time in the Shenandoah Valley and this weekend will feature quite a few celebrations and parades.

Christmas on Main in Front Royal gets started at noon today with the Merry Market and Christmas parade at 5 pm.

Strasburg’s Christmas parade down King Street will start at 4:30 pm today followed by a tree lighting ceremony.

Middletown’s Christmas parade will start at 2 pm tomorrow.

The Sports Marshall is Sherando High School and Shenandoah Univeristy alum Darrell Thompson, who is now a pitcher in the Milwaukee Brewers organization. 

The Grand Marshals include the James Wood Volleyball team that recently claimed their first state title.

Holiday Parade returns to Old Town

Monday marks the return of the Holiday Parade to Old Town Winchester. The parade will feature floats, bands, local organizations and Santa himself!

The parade will start down Piccadilly Street before turning on to Braddock Street and then E Cork Street.

Those roads along with a few others in the immediate area will close at 5:45 pm on Monday.

The tree lighting ceremony will take place immediately after the parade on the walking mall.

Middletown celebrates with Tree Lighting Ceremony

‘Tis the season in Middletown as they got in the Christmas spirit with their annual Tree Lighting Ceremony last night.

They welcomed Super Bowl Champion and Washington legend Brian Mitchell as a special guest to help light the tree which is located off Reliance Road as you are entering Middletown.

Middletown will continue their festivities next weekend with their Christmas Parade down Main Street next Saturday at 2:00 pm.

If you’re in Middletown anytime through the holidays, don’t forget to stop by their mailbox to Santa and Mrs. Claus to drop off your letters which they have promised Mayor Harbaugh to respond to.

Front Royal’s Christmas Fest and Parade

Front Royal’s Christmas Fest and 72nd Annual Parade gets started at noon today at the Gazebo.

The parade will follow shortly, kicking off at 4 pm.

Start off your day at the pancake breakfast at WCHS then head on downtown.

Live Christmas music at the Gazebo will play from noon to 1:30 pm.

Other events starting at noon include: Habitat for Humanities silent auction at the Virginia Beer Museum, the Winter Bazaar at Love Revival Ministry, and the winter festival at Able Forces.

Royal Cinemas will have a free classic Christmas movie showing at 1 pm before you head over to the parade.

Middletown’s Christmas Parade and tree lighting is back

A press release from Middletown announced the return of the annual Christmas Parade and tree lighting ceremony.

The tree lighting will be held Nov. 26 at 4:45 p.m. on Reliance Road complete with a bonfire and a special performance of Glory Bea: A Shenandoah Christmas.

According to the town’s social media post free food and presents for the kids will also be available on Nov. 26.

The Christmas Parade will step off at 2 p.m. Dec. 5 with applications to be a part of the parade here or call (540) 869-2226 for more information.

The town reminds you that there is only one true Santa in this parade and he will end the parade with no imitation Santa’s allowed according to the press release.

The one and only Santa will also meet the kids at the Wayside Inn with cookies and hot chocolate after the parade.
