Clarke County’s Commonwealth’s Attorney is appointed to judgeship

The latest Clarke County E-News reports that Clarke County’s current Commonwealth’s Attorney Anne Williams has been appointed to a General District Court Judgeship.

The General Assembly appointed Williams to be the 26th Judicial Circuit Court Judge starting August 1.

Williams may be assigned to any court in the district which includes Clarke, Frederick, Page, Rockingham, Shenandoah, and Warren Counties.

The 26th district also includes the cities of Winchester and Harrisonburg.

Williams was first sworn in as Clarke County’s Commonwealth Attorney in April 2017 after the retirement of Suzanne Mackall.

Clarke County will appoint their next Commonwealth’s Attorney in a special election in August.¬†
