Winchester begins a community cleanup program

An email from City of Winchester Communications Director Amy Simmons announced that the city is looking for volunteers.

The City begins a new series of cleanup efforts Saturday Apr. 9 at 8 a.m..

Cleanups are planned several times over the year hosted by councilperson Kim Herbstrit and Vice Mayor John Hill.

Volunteers are invited to meet at the Mount Carmel Church on South Pleasant Valley Road or at 627 North Pleasant Valley Road or at the parking lot near the Rescue Mission at 8 a.m. Saturday.

Cleanup is planned for Shawnee Springs Preserve, Friendship Park and N. Cameron St..

Gloves, pickers and bags will be provided.

Three different areas will be cleaned in this inaugural effort with other locations to be announced for future cleanups soon.
