VSP will use new DNA testing in 23 year old Strasburg case

With new advancements in DNA testing and tactics Virginia State Police (VSP) hope to solve a 23 year old Strasburg case.

According to the news release from VSP the new DNA testing will greatly aid in advancing the case.

The case involves the Jul. 23, 1998 disappearance of then 10 week old Allyson Kathleen Dalton.

As well as help with the investigation of the same day murder of Allyson’s mother Sylena Jo Dalton.

State Police are still encouraging anyone with information related to the 23 year old case to call (540) 829-7400.

Allyson was last seen on Jul. 23, 1998 with her mother Sylena who was found stabbed to death in her second floor apartment on Charles St. Strasburg.

Allyson’s father who was seen at the apartment the morning of the murder and disappearance continues to cooperate with authorities.
