Valley Health (VH) reports that Shenandoah Memorial Hospital (SMH) has been nationally recognized.

The hospital has been recognized by the Chartis Center for Rural Health as one of the top 100 critical access facilities.

There are 1,353 federally designated critical access hospitals serving rural areas in the United States.

Chartis uses publicly available data to assess and benchmark a rural hospital’s performance based on 36 relevant indicators.

The performance indicators include quality, outcomes, increasing patient satisfaction and operating at a lower cost.

The 100 highest scoring critical access hospitals earn a spot on the Chartis list.

SMH is the only hospital in Virginia to receive the honor and recognition in 2022.
