ACSO report the recovery of New Market drowning victim
Augusta County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) reports the recovery of a drowning victim from New Market.
The report of a drowning at Stoney Creek Resort in Greenville was received at 6:52 p.m. Saturday May 27 with units arriving on scene at 7:05 p.m.
The victim was not immediately found as he was underwater.
The Virginia State Police (VSP) Search and Recovery Team Divers were able to locate and recover the victim.
The victim was recovered and identified as New Market resident Dakota Marcus Fulk’s at 11:56 p.m.
Fulk’s remains have been transported to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Manassas for examination.
Foul play is not suspected in Fulk’s death as he became distressed while attempting to swim across the lake and went under the water and did not resurface.
Fulk was at the resort with his wife and numerous family members and friends at the time of the incident.
Along with the ACSO and Fire and Rescue units from Stuarts Draft, Riverheads, Staunton and VSP assisted in the rescue attempt.
