A major crash left five from one family including the family dog and a Martinsburg man dead.

The crash was reported at approximately 8:50 p.m. August 9 on Interstate 81 north in Pennsylvania’s Franklin County.

Northbound lanes were not able to reopen completely until approximately 7 a.m. August 10.

The crash took up close to a quarter mile of the Interstate northbound starting at mile marker 18.

According to an ABC news report Pennsylvania State Police determined that a Recreation Vehicle or RV hauling a trailer in the southbound lane crossed the median and collided head on with a double tractor trailer heading north.

Preliminary indications are that the RV blew a front tire causing the vehicle to careen out of control.

All four in the RV and Driver of the Tractor Trailer were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The family was identified as the Mooreland’s from Middletown Pennsylvania.

Donald, Kimberley, Miranda and Dane and the family dog were not able to survive the impact.

The tractor trailer driver was identified as James Shade of Martinsburg West Virginia.

This crash was only two days after a bus crash took the life of three people in Dauphine County near Hersey Pennsylvania.
