Page County couple is sentenced on drug charges

A news release from the United States Attorney’s Office Western District of Virginia confirms the sentence of a Luray Resident.

Danica Lee Strate of Luray  pleaded guilty on Feb. 4 to one count of the possession of 29 pounds of methamphetamine.

Strate and co-defendant Gene Stidham were living in Stanley in 2019 when law enforcement and a probation officer raided their residence.

During the search crystal methamphetamine, a wallet and plastic bags were recovered.

Later a subsequent search uncovered a duffel bag with the 29 pounds of methamphetamine, cash, scales, pistol and other items.

Stidham has since been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for illegal drug trafficking offenses.

Strate has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to similar charges.

The investigation was conducted by Page County Authorities, Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and explosives and Virginia State Police.
