According to the Virginia Legislative System website Virginia Lawmakers are making the state raise awareness of tick and tick borne diseases.

Both Houses voted on and approved a tick bill to make and keep the public aware of ticks and the diseases they carry.

The bill requires the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) to post signs in all parks addressing the appropriate steps to take to prevent tick bites.

The signs must go up in areas that have been identified as most susceptible to Lyme disease first.

The signs are also to offer information on identifying  Lyme disease and where to seek treatment.

The bill requires the DCR to put up signs by Jan. 1 2028.
