Virginia experiencing heightened bird mortality

emergency funding for homeless

Virginia is one of many states in the mid-Atlantic region that are experiencing heightened bird mortality rates.

Investigations are ongoing to discover what is causing birds to get sick, incapacitated or die.

Common Grackles, Blue Jays, American Robins, European Starlings, and finches have been affected the greatest so far.

The Department of Fish and Wildlife Conservation is asking that you remove all bird feeders and bird baths to disinfect and put them away until the situation has improved.

Keep your animals away from dead or sick birds and if you must move them, wear gloves.
