Court documents show a Berkeley County Grand Jury handed down 4 indictments against Berkeley County West Virginia Sheriff Nathan Harmon.

The four indictments involved the investigation into Harmon’s actions following his daughter Carrie’s January 6 crash.

After the crash on Cemetery Road outside Martinsburg Harmon is accused of obstructing justice and falsifying information.

One indictment alleges that Harmon obstructed the investigation of the deputy at the scene of the crash.

Another indictment alleges that Harmon deleted or concealed GPS tracking data from his daughter’s car six days after the crash.

Two more indictments allege that the Sheriff lied to the investigating State Trooper about a preliminary breath test not being administered to his daughter.

The final indictment alleges that Harmon lied to the trooper about what he did to the GPS.

In the official statement from Sheriff Harmon after the crash he called the wreck a basic traffic accident with no sign of alcohol involved.

Carrie Harmon told responding Deputy Henderson the night of the accident that she swerved to miss a deer.

When Sheriff Harmon arrived on the scene, he is seen on the deputy’s body camera asking if his daughter had been drinking.

The deputy responded that he could not tell.

After news of the accident spread, the public pressure led to the investigation into the sheriff’s actions.

A special prosecutor was appointed to further investigate the incident which led to the indictments.
