In a news letter from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) they announced the activation of 30 new signs to help ease congestion on Interstate 81.

The signs are to help improve safety, increase reliability and foster economic growth along the 325 mile Interstate.

The 30 signs will offer motorist vital immediate information on traffic incidents, congestion, work zones and inclement weather and more.

Nine of those signs are located on Interstate 81 approach roads to help motorist decide if they should enter the highway or use an alternate route.

This is part of the I-81 corridor improvement initiative.
