Touch-A-Truck to benefit Discovery Museum

The Top of Virginia Building Association is hosting a touch-a-truck event to support the Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum.

The event will take place at the Frederick County Fairgrounds today from 11 am to 5 pm.

This is a great opportunity for kids to have a hands-on learning experience with local fire and rescue vehicles, heavy construction equipment, and other vehicles.

Tickets to the event cost $5 per person or $20 a carload of less than 6.

Sock Skating at Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum

While we didn’t record today’s show AT Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum, we still took our own field trip there to check out the new sock skating rink they’ve installed on their roof.

Dawn Devine, Director at Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum and Tammy Stevenson, Director of Development & Marketing joined me for the conversation to get the details about what goes into adding things like the sock skating rink to their exhibits & learning opportunities. We talked about how much fun the kids have sliding around on the rink and even got some tips for first-timers (bring an extra pair of socks!)

We also discussed the vital role sponsors and local businesses play in keeping the museum open and adding new learning opportunities for kids.
