Flu shots are recommend to maintain health and prevent heart attacks

The Virginia News Connect reports that health officials have confirmed that flu shots are beneficial during the COVID pandemic.

Health officials are encouraging people to get their flu shots as well as an annual checkup before the end of the year if possible or to start the new year.

Additionally an American Heart Association (AHA) study indicates that a flu shot can lower the risk of dying especially if you suffer from heart disease.

Doctor Ameya Kulkarni a cardiologist at Kaiser Permanente says the AHA study shows that if you get the flu shot it not only protects you from the flu but from the risk of dying really from any cause.

It is especially helpful if you have heart disease have suffered a stroke or had bypass surgery according to the AHA and Dr. Kulkarni.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends flu shots for most people six months of age and older especially for those who are at high risk of complications.
