SCSO is asking for information from the public in a dog shooting

A social media post from the Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) is seeking information from the public involving dog shootings.

Deputies investigated an incident in the 400 block of Hollingsworth Rd. in which two dogs were found injured.

Deputies reported that the two dogs appeared to have been shot with a pellet gun.

One of the dogs had to be put down as a result of the shooting according to the post.

A reminder that Virginia state law states that harming an animal is a class 1 misdemeanor and punishable by up to a year in prison a $2,500 fine possibly both.

With the possibility of stiffer penalties.
