SCPS announces grant recipients

Shenandoah County Public Schools announced the recipients of grants for 2024 from the Moore Educational Trust.

In total, nine grants were awarded for nearly $180,000.

Mountain View High School and Massanutten Regional Governor’s School were awarded $65,300 to implement a functional, accessible, and sustainable living watershed laboratory and outdoor learning space at the high school.

This will provide hands-on learning experiences for all grades and field trip opportunities for elementary and middle schools.

$35,000 of funding will support the Shenandoah Education Foundation’s continuation of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library which currently provides over 1,300 children with books per month.

Signal Knob Middle School received $27,625 to construct an outdoor classroom built by Signal Knob FFA and Triplett Tech students.

Some of the other projects included virtual reality learning experiences, support for photography classes, and expanded music instruction.
