Fun Fact May 14, 2021.

I’m not a cat person, but this breed sounds pretty cool.  It’s the official state cat of Maine, which makes perfect sense since it’s called the Maine Coon. The Maine Coon is a large domesticated cat breed and is one of the oldest natural breeds in North America, specifically native to the state of Maine.  The Maine Coon is a large and sociable cat, hence its nickname, “the gentle giant.”  How big is it you ask?  On average, males weigh from 13 to 18 pounds and females weigh from 8 to 12 pounds.  The height of adults can vary between 10 and 16 in and they can reach a length of up to 38 inches, including the tail which looks like a raccoons tail. Maine Coons posses above-average intelligence, making them relatively easy to train.  Some even call their behavior “dog like.”  Now that’s a cat I may be able to embrace.
